1940s Shirtwaist Dress with Pleated Skirt (S)

Gorgeous vintage c. 1940s black rayon shirtwaist dress with incredible horizontal pleating on the skirt. The dress has a flat pointed collar that can be worn open or done up for a higher neckline. it has two rows of butons running down the blouson-style bodice, a fitted waistline and pleated skirt with 9 decorative buttons running down each hip at the side seam. It has 3/4 length cuffed sleeves, the original metal zipper at the side and two string belt loops.. A really classy cut with a few pleats on each shoulder to give the bodice a lovely drape! Would fit a modern size small, please see measurements below.

Condition: Very good to excellent vintage condition - no flaws to note except missing original belt

Measurements - taken in inches with garment lying flat, un-stretched (double for bust/waist/hip):

shoulders: up to 17”

bust: 18”

waist: 13.75”

hip: up to 21.5”

length (shoulder to bottom hem): 45.5”

Sleeve length: 16"
